At a very small age, I was astonished by veterinarians who provide animals with medical care and their responsibility to perform surgical procedures in animals. At the age of 8, I requested my parents to buy me a pet animal, I genuinely appreciated and respected any animal as a pet. As a gift, my parents have presented me a pet rabbit, thereafter I took the responsibility to provide special care for my rabbit. From the age 8 onwards my interest in animals has increased, and all that was in my perception was only pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. My interest in companion animals and their veterinary care peaked about 7 years ago when I began to volunteer with a service dog training organization called ECAD. When I first started, I learned about basic grooming and training techniques by practicing on mature Golden Retrievers. I gradually worked my way up to being able to work with dogs that ranged from about 2 months old to 2 years old. Currently I am the only youth volunteer who holds a Public Access license, which allows me to bring dogs into public places for training.…

I can call upon a wealth of experience that has proved for me that this is the career that I want to pursue whilst simultaneously preparing me for it. During my part-time job at Sanfield Stud and voluntary work at Dressage Horses International Ltd, I learnt about the associated mechanisms of equine management, breeding and development, as well as a vet's role within them. Furthermore, my time spent at several farming establishments (four weeks in total) exposed me to the basics of veterinary medicine within a farming environment, such as vaccinating lambs against Watery Mouth and learning the main aspects of pig production during my placement at a large breeding company. Moreover, my time at two veterinary groups (three weeks total), exposed me to procedures such as the rectifying of a cow's displaced abomasum. My placements at both of these clinics has furnished me with superb experience of working with ailing animals, whilst also granting me the opportunity to develop professional competencies and important social skills.…

Veterinary medicine as a subject is centred on the treatment of a range of different animals, including domestic pets and farmyard animals. It combines biological sciences with anatomy, and even niche subjects such as gastroenterology - the study of the stomach - and parasitology - which is the study of pesky parasites. Most of the study areas will cross-over with medicine degrees, like oncology and neurology, but the course will include animal-specific modules to ensure graduates are learned in the right areas. Studying a degree in this area will also ensure a candidate is familiar with a range of animals, their different anatomies and behaviour characteristics, as well as treatments. This type of course typically involves five years of studying…

I decided to do a vision board to represent my values, ethics, success, and goals because I believe I am a more right brained person, using images to represent important goals in my life will help me look at these images every day, then put some things into action. The process of creating my board was quite exciting, I always keep a stack of old magazines and news papers around for things like this. I dug my box out, and started to gather some of my favorite images, after this I sectioned them into different groups that I felt made sense. Once I had strong sections that really displayed my goals, values, and ethics, I placed them on my board in a way I found visually appealing. I created a board that visually was appealing to me, because I wanted to enjoy looking something everyday till I…
