What is "Anonymous"? Many media platforms claim it is a bunch of teenagers who only take control of websites to cause mischief. Politicians call them terrorists, thieves, and anarchists. Are any of these allegations true though? The public and supporters claim them to be heroes and saviors of the Internet. Fighting for anonymity and the freedom of information across the public and the Internet. All while sporting the infamous Guy Fawkes mask from the movie "V For Vendetta", symbolizing the distain for governments and love for rebellion and anarchy. Op-Paris was declared after the mass shootings in Paris by ISIS and other pro-extreme Islam advocates. Providing support to citizens in Paris and bringing down any pro-ISIS websites and propaganda. Op-KKK, was when hackers released the personal information of hundreds of Ku Klux Klan members and pro-KKK politicians. Sending out their public information, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, billing information, and so on. Op-ISIS was declared soon after Op-Paris as a full scale digital cyber war on ISIS. Taking down more ISIS propaganda, DDoS websites and users, giving and sharing as much information as possible, and doing so until the downfall of ISIS in the first world comes to a downfall.
Anonymous stands as a reminder that humanity can still triumph, that there are still people willing to care about the world and it's people. They take up so much of the population but in reality are no more than just regular people. Teenagers, students, workers, buisness employers, homeless, virtually everyone and anyone can join. They stand for peace, progress, liberty, and fraternity. They remind us what the people are capable of, and that governments should fear their people, instead of people fearing their governments.
