Personal Narrative: Clean Your Work Space

Improved Essays
“Clean your work space or you’re grounded!” These are the words I’ve heard so many times during my childhood. I still remember the 8th-grader Malisa’s desk like the back of my hand. She would open a lot of textbooks scatterly with highlights and memos scribbled upon them, Post it notes stuck everywhere and pens sloppily placed inside its case with caps unclosed. For me, it looks completely fine. I could even call it my “utopia”. However my mother always says that people are going to judge my reliability: that my mind is just as clustered as my files on my table. Despite my understanding of her logic, I still firmly deny it. I believe that disorganization is not a dreadful negativity that people should be terrified of because it encourages …show more content…
What do I mean by flow? Let’s imagine a scenario. You were driving a car to Hua-Hin but while you were driving your friend kept on calling you and demanded multiple stops so you to pick something up for him on the way. A trip that was supposed to be only 2 hours extended to 4 hours. Now, if we compared this case to how human works, you driving a car is you working on something, and you making stops to pick stuff up for your friend is you being distracted from your actual task to tidy up your desk. For some people, mess is something that just happen. “Instead of worrying about minute details messy people tend to focus on the big picture. They would rather focus all of their attention on the important task at hand than worry about other things” said Caithlin Pena. Some people would become so engrossed on what they’re doing that they could not careless about the neatness around them. All that is on their mind is to finish their work quickly and …show more content…
Some people can reap so benefits like uniqueness, innovation, and handiness, which is caused by working among piles of objects. So next time if you see an untidy desk, please do not label the owner of the table as a “filth” or a “savage”. A surface of the desk does not reflect a person entirely like Einstein said “If a clustered desk is a sign of a clustered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign of?” In addition, I am not saying that everyone on Earth should be messy since it can sometime lead to health problems both mentally and physically. In the other words, Organization and chaos must be kept at balance in order to ensure

In the essay Neat People vs. Sloppy People by Suzanne Britt she explains what she believes the differences are between neat people and sloppy people. The Suzanne Britt has a tendency to support the sloppy people more than the neat people because she believes that the sloppy people are disorganized because they have more important tasks to perform then to clean. I believe that the neatness that the author is talking about could be a symbol of metaphorical clutter people may have in their lives. The clutter that she is referring to is likely the difficult situations that people encounter in their everyday lives. This form of disorganization and discombobulation can clutter the mind filling it with important or sometimes unimportant information.…

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

“Oh, I’m have to keep my room organized. I am so OCD.” Commonalities such as this one are frequently misused by many people - most of whom are people who do not even have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder or simply have not been educated about what the disorder actually is. OCD is oftentimes seen as simply a facet of every person’s personality that makes him or her desire to keep things clean or organized a certain way. Although a symptom of some people’s OCD can be related to organization, their compulsions tend to be more complex, long-lasting, and detrimental; sometimes including compulsions that can last upwards of an hour (Fennell 1).…
