The Articles of Confederation were 13 articles that were created to structure and fix the conflict between the states. These articles were put into action by John Dickinson in the year 1776. He started to draft out the articles in hopes that they would make a change in some way. Many of the drafts sketched didn't work out well but, many of them were very good and might change the conflict between the states. Some farmers wanted the New Jersey plan which stated that every state should be represented equally and the power to regulate trade and tax should be limited.(Miss.crouse powerpoint). The compromises that needed to be made in the constitution, were the arguments between all the states. Also, the congresses representation. These were two things that needed to be modified. Another thing that needed to be modified was the idea that slaves are or are not to be counted as population. This resulted in the three-fifths compromise which stated that every three slave would be counted as one
