Having young daughters, I am extremely thrilled about seeing African Americans as mainstream idols. My every decision is centered around the well-being of my family. How I raise my children are very important to me. I vow to raise successful members of our society. I encourage my children to know right from wrong and make the right decisions in their lives. The way in which my husband and I raise our children based on the word of God, love, kindness, ambition, education, and family values (and so much more). Given that, they will be faced with inequality at times. As black boys and girls, they will sometimes be treated unjustly because of the color of their skin. Sadly, there are many people in the world who are not brought up in the same value system as us and I teach this to my children. I talk about current issues with them so that they stay aware. They will see and know the possibilities and circumstances and be equipped and on-guard, should they ever find themselves in any such situation. I don’t shelter them from the truth. We live in our truth, but stay experienced and educated about others. It’s important to me to raise God-fearing, life-long learners, who aim to make a positive impact on society. As a home-schooling mom, I am grateful to be able to be my children’s first teacher in these
