Without the Blackfeet members working for the white Americans, they would not have any money to support their families. Another picture from the textbook, Going to the Source, which is located on page forty-nine is called Blackfeet Girl at Glacier National Park Switchboard. The photograph showed a young female from the Blackfeet tribe in the 1920s working for the Great Northern Railway’s. This photograph was not used for publicity but, was used to show how Blackfeet members worked for white Americans in order to support their families (Bissell Brown & Shannon, 2016). The two photographs, Blackfeet Girl at Glacier National Park Switchboard and Blackfeet and Park Golfers prove that in order for the Blackfeet tribe to survive they needed jobs which forced them to become dependent on the white American. Photograph number one, Greeting from Glacier National Park was often used on postcards to persuade people to come to Glacier National Park. With that said, the post cards would often say, “We shake hands with you!” This shows that Blackfeet tribe was used for publicity for the white American. The photograph shows all adult Native Americans and picture is drums (Bissell Brown & Shannon, 2016). Often the Blackfeet tribe did not use their drums unless they were preforming a ritual. Photograph number two titled, Great Northern Railway Calendar of 1923 has a picture of the Blackfeet tribe gathering together in a group. The calendar also mentions how the Blackfeet Indians were suspicious of the railroad because it would be invasion of their land. However, this is a true statement because the railroad did take some of the Blackfeet’s land. In this case, the photograph is being used to advertise the use of the railroad in the country (Bissell Brown & Shannon, 2016). The last photograph, number seven on page forty-five, titled Blackfeet Performance shows the Blackfeet tribe performing a dance. However, gathered around the tribe is white Americans who are enjoying the show that the Blackfeet tribe is performing. Also, the American Flag is pictured being flown around the Blackfeet’s homes.
