Book Publishing Case

In order to research on whether or not my editorial idea would be viable, I will examine my editorial niche from several factors that would impact my book publishing market. First and foremost, the author of the book would be considered as the main factor that decide whether the books would have potential profitability. Woll also demonstrates that the well-known authors or authors with celebrity status are able to gain visibility in the marketplace. (Woll, 2014, p22) I will focus my research on the reputation of the author of my book and the close connection between the author herself or himself and the topic of the book. In order to do so, I will use Google to find out the candidates who are related to Canadian fashion and history, then look into their career backgrounds and previous works to select the most suitable candidate. If there is a potential author with high reputation in Canadian fashion and history industry, my editorial idea will be viable.

Second, a competitive and comparable title is a decisive component. This is because the title is the first thing that consumers look into when they reached for a book. Whether or

In terms of sales channels, there are many places can carry books, but it is important to make a good decision on distributing certain amount of the books to different locations. The company will be able to earn profits by doing so. In order to make such precise decision, I will take an in-person research to different possible retail environments, such as bookstores, libraries, gift stores, galleries, and even some fashion institutions to know about the sales volumes of each locations. Therefore, I will be able to understand whether or not my editorial niche is doable. Additionally, I can also make a reasonable decision on distributions once the books are
