What is boxing?
Boxing is a sport with the goal to put attacks with the fists on the body and face of the opponent until he is knocked out unconscious. As well one will defend with his or her fists and arm.
People who box are called boxers.
The rings or the “area of boxing” is a square of 18 by 22 feet with four ropes enclosing it.
Boxers wear padded gloves and follow the Queensberry rules. Boxing involves two people going against each other of same gender. As well they must be around the same weight, height and talent.
A boxing match is decided by scoring more points than your opponents. It is scored through the boxer’s success and the opponents capability of counting. A boxing match continues until the 12th round, a round being three minutes. If a fight continues until 12th round it must be finished when the round is over and judges, then decide the winner or a draw. There is a referee in the ring regulating the match.
Professional bouts for men are usually 4 to 12 rounds with three minutes as supposed to women two minutes
There are no internationally governing body for professional boxing so it’s up to the country to decide the rules. In the United States’ boxing rules are decided by each state.
