What makes our Society more in Common with Brave New World? In my own understanding of this novel titled “Brave New World” written by Aldous Huxley. I will say its contents and the characters discussed have a lot in common with our society. In comparison, the Director of the Hatchery Conditioning portray the character of our governments, all staff working in the conditioning department represent our so called scientist, while all the babies cultured represent the citizens of the free world. As a matter of fact, there are major features in this novel such as total freedom, and living in luxury that really relate to what we are experiencing in our society. Although, all things seems to be going on well in the brave new world, but in reality things are falling apart. In brave new world, the director of hatchery conditioning unveiled how happy the people need to be, therefore a scientific means was generated to create a means of letting the people be in higher mood of happiness. The use of soma was very common in the civilized brave new world. Soma was used to eradicate sadness and it also suppresses the true affection that generates true happiness in human. The citizens of the brave new world were conditioned to accept that sadness is an illusion, while only happiness is real. Even when their relatives are dying, they believe it is normal, but no sense of sympathy, their mind was occupied with false happiness. In comparison with our society most people are in pursue of happiness, even though their friends or relative are mentally, spiritually or physically struggling with their life, the society has conditioned people to believe that, it is the normal way of living
