Buy Me Research Paper

Decent Essays
As I sit on the grocery store shelf I can only wonder who is going to buy me. The worst part of my day on the shelf is when someone purchases me. When they purchase me, I dread going home with them. I get to their house and I am put on the toilet paper holder. I sit and wait for people to rip me apart and use me for cleaning purposes. What interests me is that Donn Eisele had been a pilot for virtually his entire career. Donn Eisele's job on the Apollo 7 mission was piloting the spacecraft. In my opinion, I have always found it to be interesting and scary as a pilot, because it seems pretty cool to be manning vehicles that fly in the air, but you can also crash and blow up if things go wrong. While I do not want to be a pilot due to all the pressure of having to do everything right to avoid crashing, I respect the profession. What piques my interest even more is that Donn Eisele wasn't just any pilot.…

The setup of the station looked dreary with a flimsy tent surrounded by soiled white tables. Underneath stood three large garbage cans, a blue cart and a green bin. The inner area revealed two overflowing black bags of garbage that were to be sorted. I had just torn open the first bag and started to pick apart the debris when people began trickling in. The sideway glances and stares began immediately and filled me with overwhelming embarrassment.…

Eighner also shares practical lessons that living on the streets can offer, as well as a category of social classes for the homeless population. Scavenging has become such a popular and competitive act and is divided into series of stages that a person goes through as they learn how to scavenge. Eighner explains the first stage a scavenger feels is “disgust” and feels “ashamed.” He is disgusted with himself and feels ashamed to be seen “lurking around, trying to duck behind things…”…

Throw Me A Bone And I’ll Succeed “To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone” (McEntire). You of course need bones to live effectively let alone be successful, but I believe McEntire is referring to these bones figuratively. We need a wishbone to wish and be hopeful in all things, as well as always having something to always work for. I believe also that we need a backbone, figuratively speaking, because we need to be able to stand up for what we believe.…

In twenty years, as a board member of a scholarship selection committee, I would award the 17-year-old me a scholarship not because I am simply answering the prompt in my favor, but because I know that the 17-year-old me's dream is to go to college to gain a higher education and has made learning a high priority since elementary school. The 17-year-old me is determined, hard-working, and understands the struggle of having little money, so I would know that the scholarship would not go to waste; she would use it so that her parents can ease their worry about how she is going to go to college, since they are not able to make any contributions. Knowing that her family earns little income, she has spent most of her high school years dedicating her time to her schoolwork, hoping that she would be qualified to earn scholarships during her senior year. During the other majority of her time, she has volunteered for over 300 hours at various locations and participating in school clubs and activities.…

Have you ever not finished your homework and need more time at school that’s what study hall would do for us kids? Currently in Foley Intermediate school, we have no study hall for seventh and eighth graders because of this we need to take an elective that we don't enjoy. The rule is we must take seven classes and at least one of them has to be an art or a music class. If we add this elective we would need to have supervisors with us in this class and we would need to have a place to have study hall. Such as a room or even the cafeteria.…

Since my 9th grade year (once I moved back to South Carolina in Columbia) to this current day I have struggled at school, at home, and with myself. I always had problems with teachers and grades and now I can finally admit that truth, I have gone through so much I could make you laugh, cry, be mad, be sad, and be happy all at once. I use to have a bad attitude and be mad at the world because of the type of person I was, I knew that I was lazy, had an attitude, a bad temper, and I did not care about anyone’s feelings, I was always angry and I couldn’t take any constructive criticism without feeling offended if I knew it would save a life. At one point in my 9th grade year I was attempting to try to help myself until my brother was shot, it affected me in and outside of school.…
