What was it like as a kid? What was an average day like? My grandpa usually had more of a work-heavy day, even as a kid. A typical day starting off with getting up early to feed and milk the cows. He was sent to school, but then decided to not continue, since “he didn’t want to” at the time. After feeding the animals and eating lunch, he went to the farm fields to work and help out with the tasks he was told (like planting or harvesting). Then he had time to play marbles with his friends and hang out together until dinnertime. Since there was no tv or phones, he went straight to bed after.

There, they went to the movies and ate and drank at the market before coming home. Once home, if they had the time, they would hang out together and talk for a while.
3. What work was common in those days? What was your first job? How was it? The typical jobs usually included farms. Things like farming, planting seeds, harvesting and grinding the wheat into flour were the typical duties. Combines and tractors were used and it was very heavy-duty work in hot conditions. My grandpa and other people his age didn’t really have any other opportunities. He first started getting paid at the age of 22, by working on his family farm and doing chores and tasks.
