Elevator Pitch:
This case serves as an excellent example of the risks that come with a weak outsourcing strategy and a weak technology adoption. CasaXXI, a well-known catering company, failed miserably in an attempt to create an image of innovation and modernity. The degree of innovation wanted by Jose Eduardo (CasaXXI’s CEO) was impossible to carry in the time the system needed to be implemented. Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. However, few changes need to be made to the contract and the implementation process. The two companies need to work more closely together and have a better flow of information. Both companies should take full responsibility for their mistakes. Before installing the system, Meag should do a thorough analysis and an action plan of the implementation of the system and present it to CasaXXI. If the system fails again, CasaXXI should be able to terminate the contract and use Meag’s system with another contractor.
4. If you going to hire a new contractor which one will it be: consider the pros/cons of each option (Processos Criativos, SVDI or Resinfor). Remember the outcome of the case is not necessarily the solution.
If Meag is out of the picture, ceteris paribus, I would hire Processos Criativos for the following reasons. Among the three contractors, Processos Criativos seems to have the most knowledge with the current system. The firm has experience with Wintouch system, therefore, it could easily implement a new system. However before making the deal, Processos Criativos need to provide a clear cost of the project.
