Introduction to research has been very informative. Research is used in almost every facet of life, although many times, our results are not recognized as research. The use of American Psychological Association …show more content…
They are used to ensure the research is valid and can stand on its own. They are a sort of checks and balances to verify the research captures what it was intended to capture and its results are unbiased. Reliability. Reliability is when the research can be conducted by others and the same results are concluded. In other words, the research results were not a fluke, or a one-time occurance. An example is a boxed cake recipe. The cake mix comes with instructions on the box. The instructions, ingredients (and amounts) have been tested many times to ensure their reliability. The results should be the same each time the cake is made according to the directions on the box. Validity. Validity is when the results capture what they are supposed to capture. For example, if a student is told to prepare for an exam on chapters 10 and 11 in a psychology class and the actual test given is on chapters 12 and 13, the results will not be an actual representation of the student’s knowledge of chapters 10 and 11 because the material from those chapters was never tested.

In His word, we learn more about Him and He reveals himself to us. Acts 17:11 speaks of examining the scriptures to find God and to see if what Paul said about Him were true. This is another example of godly research.
Research is Ungodly Isaiah 55:8-9 (New International Version) states, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts". These verses tell us that we will never completely understand how God thinks and why He does what He does. We should not even ask; His ways are above ours. It is similar to research in trying to find cause and effect; it is not possible with
