Stacey is receiving services in an outpatient orthopedic institution because of her ankle injury. Stacey slipped and fell while on her front porch and landed on her right ankle on the concrete. Stacey is concerned that she will not be able to complete some of her Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and her Instrumental Activities of Daily living (IADLs) due to the static air cast she has to wear on her leg to keep her foot stabilized and elevated.
Stacey is successful in some of her ADLs which include, her personal hygiene and grooming (since she can do her hair, brush her teeth and can wear makeup), feeding herself, and eating/swallowing her food. Trying to tend to her business, work, and attend her therapy sessions is challenging since she cannot drive to each location; which affects how long she can participate in therapy each week.
Stacy's work consists of using the computer and telephone to discuss work matters and meetings. Because Stacey works from home, there is a high work demand for completing work during certain deadlines.
Stacey wants her ankle to heal properly so that it can be easier for her to cook, clean, and drive her sons to school again. Stacey would like to add a slip resistant covering to her porch and a railing in order to help prevent future falls. Stacey looks forward to being able to learn adaptive ways to help her continuously interact and play with her four-year-old boys while wearing her air cast. Stacey reports feeling better and more confident after attending her Occupational Therapy Sessions and looks forward to being a future client until she is formally dispatched from
