Methodology
The methodology consists of three separate assessments, one for each of the forces identified as important contributor in the city's potential for a creative milieu in Downtown Las Vegas and each addressing the corresponding set of research questions.
The first is a measure of the socio-economic conditions of the Las Vegas region or the Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA Conditions), the second is to identify the government agencies' strategies (GOV Actions) in the revitalization of downtown and how they compare to the index categories, the third is to understand the response of the population, specifically the creative population (C-POP Reactions) to these efforts by identifying how they use or don't use the downtown area …show more content…
Downtown Container Park
Envisioned as a small business incubator, downtown container park is home to 39 owner-operator businesses including bars, restaurants, art galleries, and a wide variety of retail shops. The businesses are housed in43 repurposed shipping containers and 41 locally manufactured structures called Xtreme Cubes. Eat
Chef Natalie had worked in kitchens in some of the biggest hotels in Las Vega and was ready to pack it in and leave town for good. She was introduced to DTP and became their first small business investment. Eat opened in September of 2012 and Chef Natalie paid off the investment within just 15 months. Eat is a breakfast and lunch joint only.
7.7. The Hydrant Club
A social spot for urban canines and their people, The Hydrant Club unleashes a new experience for urban dog living. It’s a membership access facility that revolves around dogs and their owners. Equal parts off-leash play space, structured exercise environment, daycares, training, and boarding, Hydrant Club takes a fresh approach to the idea of traditional dog parks or dog facilities by emphasizing the importance of being directly engaged with your dog.
7.8. The Writer’s Block
The Writer’s Block is a bookseller, book manufacturer, literary treasury, writer’s workshop, and artificial bird sanctuary. Its book shop is Vegas’ exclusive retailer of new fiction and nonfiction books, writing and print supplies, games and Venus flytraps.
