Events that led to WW1 World War one , also known as great war started in 1914. Several countries like United States, Germany, Great Britain experienced devastation and an estimated number of 9 million lives were lost in this first man made calamity of 1900’s. United States first idea of staying out of war changed especially, when Germans attacked Lusitania and killed 120 Americans .This war helped United States economically and lead to an era of prosperity, called “The Roaring Twenties.” There were several causes leading to this war, some of these major causes were assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Mutual alliance agreements and nationalism. On the home front, hatred towards immigrants, German americans and other ethnicities was on the rise. Antiwar sentiments were also banned by Espionage act of 1917 and The sedition act of 1918. The generation of World War 1 and the roaring twenties became known as “The lost generation”, due to uncertainty of causes and effects of this war and disenchant of American democracy values and ideals. Overall , this war helped United States on political outfront. Several women volunteered during war, helping them come to front as patriotic citizens. This helped their women’s suffrage movement. Several African Americans volunteered during war and demanded equal civil rights. This also caused “The great Migration”, many African Americans migrated to northern areas from south reshaping cultural and economical ideals in northern areas. United States was booming economically due to heightened increase in industry,production and manufacturing. Companies were profiting massively. Also, Cities were urbanizing. United States came forward as a world industrial leader. Since United States was booming industrial wise, this led to Roaring twenties, an era of prosperity for
