Charles Babbage, who was a famous inventor and mathematician, invented two machines which were called the Difference Engines 1 and 2. [1] These machines had one main function which is to work out numbers via repeated additions. The Difference Engine 1 was basically …show more content…
In fact, before the computers we know today there also existed the analog computers beforehand. As it was already discussed, the engines designed by Babbage were mechanical and during the times after that, another form of computer closer than the one which is used today was invented, the analog computer. There are two types of analog computers, which are the mechanical analog computers and the electrical analog computers.
Firstly, the mechanical analog computers works with a system of various pulleys and cables to achieve a certain task. Another group of mechanical analog computers use a system of rotating shafts to carry variables from one mechanism to another. Secondly, the second group of analog computers which existed in order for Computer Science to evolve and progress in what it is today, there are the electronic analog computers. These are different from the mechanical analog computers in such a way that they have front panels with numerous sockets that allow interconnections to be created to define the problem
