Policies and procedures for privacy and security need to be developed, adopted and implemented in the clinic. Then people would be selected to monitor the policies and procedures. The plan would include monthly risk assessments meetings to monitor the implementation of the policies. I would also have a training class each month with employees to remind them of the HIPPA requirements. The clinic should also make available to all patients a copy of their HIPPA rights either through pamphlet, television channel or internet. The plan should also include what to do if someone violates HIPPA what authorities will be notified and what consequences will take place. Lastly, implementation of the privacy and security policies should take place and employees held accountable for any violation of them.

There is only one strength to me in this case that they service a large Medicaid and SCHIP population. This would mean they are still open due to their steady patient flow. The weakness is the leadership has left the building. Everyone is doing whatever they want with no repercussions for their actions. As the new administrator is it important to set standards and guidelines and follow through on implementing them.
