Clinical Psychology Disadvantages

Clinical Psychology has been a career that I have wanted to pursue since I was young. I chose this this career because growing up I had a major psychological issue that had me open my eyes to the type of issues that this field consist of. My personal experiences from my past and remembering the things I felt at that time help motivate me for this career path. Noticing that many teenagers and young adults and some families go through many problems and not feeling comfortable enough to go to anybody or even feeling unable to afford such treatment, I want to be able to help those people.

For example, some advantages to this profession are; helping others overcome challenges in their lives, as well as having the opportunity to work with new people every day. Working your own schedule and the ability to work for yourself are other advantages of having type of career. One advantage that this career field has to offer that I am sure interest many people or students is the high earning potential or the high pay grade as it is also called. Then we have the disadvantages of working this field as well. Having the stress of dealing with organizing your own schedule and fitting your clients schedule into yours can be very hectic. I am very observant of other people’s feelings and needs. When it comes to a professional level I like to work hard and as long as it will take to get all my task finished. If I feel even slightly unsure of things I do not like to do them. For some reason, it could just be the way I am, but I have always had the habit that I put other’s needs before my own and I have always taken my responsibilities very seriously. When it comes to my interests and how they match my career, I am artistic, social, and investigative. Someone artistic is open, sensitive, and emotional and does not like structure or rules. When the person is social, they like to seek close relationships with others and they like to work with other people.
