College Admissions Essay: Life After High School

Wow, I really can’t believe that in just a few short months, I will be graduating high school. I’ve learned that the term “time flies by” really is relevant throughout your high school career, and in the moment, I didn’t even realize it. I have learned and grown so much in my high school years, gained knowledge, and made new friends. High school has been a wonderful experience, but I am well aware that this is just the start of a brand new journey. Growing up, my parents and grandparents always pushed me and my brothers to focus on academics. Every day after school, when I would get home, I would be greeted with “make sure you do your homework” and “don’t forget to study”. Those simple reminders daily really set me on a path to success, and …show more content…
My parents have always told me to go to college and strive for that higher education. With that education, go out and make the world a better place. That is exactly what I intend to do, and I will work my hardest to ensure that this goal is accomplished. Also, attending college will definitely help me follow my dreams of attending medical school. When I was younger, my grandfather suffered from a heart attack and required surgery. I am very blessed that he is still here with me today, and it amazed me how the doctors, nurses, and surgeons worked together, and saved my grandpa’s life. It truly fascinated me and made me realize, wow, that is what I want to do. The idea of helping people and saving lives is something that sparks a passion inside of me, and I can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my life. As I attend college as an undergraduate, I plan to take pre-med courses and major in either biology or neuroscience. What exactly in the medical field do I want to do? I am not certain about that yet, but I have been interested in surgery (particularly a neurosurgeon), and optometry. I’m leaning towards this career path because I would truly be living my dream of having the opportunity to impact someone’s life for the better. If I could make a difference like those doctors made for my grandpa, it would be the most amazing thing
