My passion for art has followed me since I was five years old, when I was inspired by my kindergarten art teacher, who told us we could paint grapes whatever color we wanted. Being given that freedom made me feel ecstatic. That freedom I was able to have with art gave me a sense of purpose, even at a young age. However, when I moved to a different elementary school, the art teacher stripped us of that freedom. She was very cold and made people dread going to art class, including me. That solidified my dream of becoming an art teacher, because I did not want kids to dread the activity I loved doing. I wanted everyone to enjoy art as much as I did, and have the freedom of art they deserved. I aspire to be a great art teacher and ever since then, I have been working towards fulfilling that dream.

I have begun doing personal photography for friends and family, and hope to make photography a side career in my future. This year, I had the opportunity to win three Scholastic Art & Writing awards. I won two awards in digital art, an honorable mention and one silver key, and also one honorable mention in photography. All of these achievements have made me become more confident in myself and my art, and inspired me to try and practice more styles of art than I am originally used to. The pottery classes I have taken in high school helped me learn more about designs and helped improve my 2D art, although I was not the best at 3D art. The techniques I learned in pottery also led me to improvements in my drawing classes. I was able to recognize more mistakes that I could easily fix, and helped me be able to retain more information and critiques my art teachers have given
