Comparing Lord Capulet In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Many people assume that Lord Capulet does not care for his daughter Juliet because he gets extremely angry at her during the book and he forces her to get married.. However saying this ignores the fact that in the beginning of the book, all Capulet cares about is Juliet’s happiness. Capulet only tries to marry Juliet with Paris because he is trying to help her while she mourns for Tybalt. The idea that he does not love her also ignores the fact that he lashes out at her after she disrespects him. Lord Capulet loves Juliet and he ultimately wants what is best for his daughter. In the beginning of the book, Paris comes to Lord Capulet to ask him if he can marry Juliet. Capulet refuses to let his daughter marry Paris unless she truly loves him. Capulet will only give Juliet to Paris if she agrees. Capulet shows his heart here and that he cares much more about Juliet than he cares about his own interests. Later on in the book, Juliet is mourning for Romeo, but her father believes she is mourning for Tybalt. Capulet is mourning with Juliet and he wants to do anything to make her happy again. Capulet believes that if he arranges a marriage between Paris and Juliet it will make everyone happy again. Capulet is trying to think about what is best for his daughter and make her happy. The nurse and Lady Capulet have both described Paris Lady Capulet: The valiant Paris seeks you for his love. Nurse: A man, young lady! lady, such a man As all the world- Why, he’s a man of wax. Lady Capulet: Verona’s summer hath not such a flower.
Lord Capulet is really picking out a great and beautiful man for his daughter and he is not at all trying to control her he is just trying to be a good
