LOVE AND HATE The theme of destructive love within relationships in Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Bronte’s Wuthering heights is presented through sexism, jealousy, and betrayal. There will be love and hate from both the men and women in these stories. Both stories will show what people will do for power. The play Macbeth focused on sexism, betrayal, and control of power. Lady macbeth gained control over macbeth by telling him that he was not a man, and that he could not provide for his family. With lady macbeth using “Art Thou Afeard” she questions macbeth's manhood (Shakespeare 1.7.39). Macbeth had several doubts about killing duncan, lady macbeth said “you would be so much more the man” showing that if he did it he would prove that he could provide for his family (Shakespeare 1.7.50-51). At the beginning to macbeth wanted to prove that he was brave and a man.
