Killing Lennie In Of Mice And Men By John Steinbeck

“He pulled the trigger” (Steinbeck 106). George chose the right option of killing Lennie. He knew what was best for poor Lennie. Lennie would no longer have to hide from angry townsmen who want him lynched for simply not knowing his own strength, by killing Curley's wife. Curley's reaction to Lennie's actions, came off to be harsh and it was no secret that he wanted revenge... big time... George had to act immediately. After Curley and his men left, George searched for Lennie and found him near a stream. George comforted Lennie and to distract him, he fantasized about their dream farm. "'We'll have a cow,’ said George. ‘An' we'll have a pig an' chickens... an' down the flat we'll have a... little piece alfalfa.’" (Steinbeck 105). As Lennie got excited, George quickly pulled the trigger and shot him in the back of his head.
In all honesty, George by far chose the right option. The most likely option is for Lennie to get caught by Curley and his men. They would most likely end up making Lennie suffer by torturing him and eventually kill him. "'We oughtta let 'im get away. You don't know that Curley. Curley gon'ta wanta get 'im lynched. Curley'll get 'im killed.'" (Steinbeck 94). Curley's overall demeanor went a full 180 after he found his wife dead and knew who the perpetrator was.

Even though it was wholeheartedly the right option, he still killed Lennie. Whether Lennie is lynched by Curley and his men, or locked up in a mental hospital for the rest of his life, he still killed Lennie. There is no escaping that. He has a moment of silence after killing Lennie, and barely whispers when talking to Slim. “George’s voice was almost a whisper.” (Steinbeck 107). In the movie, he beings to have flashbacks of all the good memories that he made with Lennie before the movie ends. Out of all the 3 options that would kill Lennie, the one that he chose was the best option, as Lennie would not have to suffer

This caused him to get kicked out of his old town of weed. Because of his infatuation with soft objects he takes a peculiar interest in Curley's wife, because of this interest he unknowingly kills her causing more problems with Curley. As a result of killing Curley's wife George kills Lennie as an act of mercy killing. Mercy killing can be justified because if the person does not know what they did they are more likely to do it again, yet it cannot be justified because in the catholic religion there is an accent law that says "thou shall not kill."…

There's no telling what Curly had in mind for Lennie if they caught him,and would result in Lennie having to suffer for his accidental murder in one of the passages in ‘of mice and men’ it says that curly was going to shoot Lennie in the gut which could lead to a painful and slow death so I could see why George had to shoot Lennie because he didn’t want him to die knowing he wasn't going to be able to tend the rabbits and George would have felt guilty for allowing Curly to make Lennie suffer so he had to do it there is no if, and's, or buts about this if it wasn't for George taking Lennie's life he could not live with himself and what Curly's would have done would scar…

This claim is complete bogus, and here why. As previously stated, George killing lennie would mean much more to both of them, then a person who doesn 't have a bond with neither of them. Also, Curley killing Lennie would result in a greater amount of physical pain to Lennie, because Curley was going to shoot him in the gut, and the pain would be long lasting. While George was going to kill him quickly, which would result in less pain. Therefore, George undoubtedly made the right right decision.…

George did the right thing by killing Lennie because, locking Lennie up wouldn’t have been better, he put Lennie in a better place, and Curley would have killed Lennie violently. Other people claim that George should not have killed Lennie because they were friends and killing Lennie would make their friendship pointless. If George wouldn’t have killed Lennie he wouldn’t get to stay at the Ranch he would have had to leave since he was tied to Lennie. Also, if George wouldn’t have killed Lennie, they could have gone off somewhere and started over trying to achieve their goal of the…

He always brought troubles to George and he also has some problems with his mind so that made him act like a kid, always do thing after George and if Lennie is still alive he might hurt more people, even though they were best friend and George should not have killed Lennie because of that but someone else will kill him…
