In Monmouth County, all future and current law enforcement personnel train at the Monmouth County Police Academy located in Freehold (Freeman). At this multidimensional facility, officer candidates undergo a 12-week program that combines physical conditioning, firearm training, and classroom learning with hands-on activities. As the chief enforcers of local, state, and federal law, police officers must be responsive to the concerns of the community. A new police officer must adapt to the concerns of the community while working in an environment of increased scrutiny. One thing is absolutely certain: police will continue to proactively work within appropriate jurisdictions to reduce crime and improve quality of life. As such, policing is, and will continue to be, a rewarding career that truly improves the lives of the citizens in the area
