Fifteen year old Lucy Anika Mariana De Luca kicks the rock in front of her. The state she lived in had eight nicknames: the Centennial State, the Columbine State, the Last Frontier, the Last Old West State, the Mile High State, the Mountain State, the Rocky Mountain State and Switzerland of America. To her though, she called Colorado the Misery State. Granted Colorado wasn't bad but she would rather be back in England, hell she wouldn't mind being back in Washington D.C. She looks before she crosses the road and enters the cementary. She makes her way towards the back and kneels in front of the tombstone. “I miss you dad.” it's been two and a half years since her father, Major General Thomas De Luca, died in Afghanistan. “Did you walk here?” “I can't exactly drive now can I?” “Let me drive you back home.” “I walked all the way here, I think I'll be fine.” Heath watches Lucy walk out of the cementary. He can't help but notice the stark contrast in her personality. Before her father's death she had been one of the most outgoing, sociable, and friendliest person. Now though, she was more serious and antagonistic. Sure he and Lucy had always had an antagonistic relationship but it hurt to see her like that. He wanted to see the old Lucy. Because, even if they were hostile to each other, she still managed to treat him with a kindness that was rare for him to experience. After he pays his repects to the man who saved his life he gets back in his truck. When he turns out of the driveway he sees Lucy off in the distance. When he gets closer to her he rolls the passenger window down, “Let me give you a ride Lu.” she shoots him an icy glare at the nickname, “I mean Lucy.” “Why do you keep insisting on giving me a ride?” “I'm just trying to be nice.” “Since when have you ever cared about being nice to
