Different countries have different ways of doing things. For example, Americans do not bother much about looking smart or dressing well as long as a person has what it takes to deliver the point home. On the contrary, Chinese value dressing and physical presentation very much. A rich American will wear what pleases his or her body without looking at the cost but a Chinese counterpart selects the latest fashion in the market in an effort to confirm his or her success.
