This could be seen with Martin Luther King Jr marches, montgomery bus boycotts and the Greensboro sit in. All these event involve peaceful protest and be used by many people. Groups such as the SNCC or Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee would follow these tactics. It was stated” we affirm the philosophical or religious ideal of nonviolence as the foundation of our purpose the presupposition of our faith, and the manner of our action.”(doc A). This shows that the SNCC heavily believes in peaceful protest as a tactic. Martin Luther King Jr would also state “call to engage in a non-violent direct-action program if such were deemed necessary ,” (doc B). This shows that people used it because they felt as if it was necessary.Also this would be a tactics for many groups and African Americans. Also in doc C it displays peaceful protest in action. The tactics of the civil movement eventually became more militaristic, groups such as Black Panthers and Nation of Islam used violences as a tactic.
