Dedication is seeing a doctor in surgery for 6 hours endlessly working. Dedication is smelling a chef cooking in the kitchen where the smell of food fills the entire restaurant and protrudes from inside. Dedication is a great thing but isn’t always easy. Anyone can be dedicated they just have to be willing to work hard enough and strive for what they believe in.

People who are dedicated also are described as committed, devoted, unwavering, loyal, faithful, and true. These are all good things to be and all go back to devotion. People who aren't dedicated are often lazy, inconstant, unenthusiastic, disloyal, lethargic, and apathetic. None of these are good qualities. People shouldn’t be or want to be any of these things. People have no motivation and won’t go very far in life without working hard for what they really want.

Dedication is vital in life. No matter what you do in life you will be dedicated to at least one thing in your life. Whether it be something small like watching an entire season in one day, or something big like studying day and night, and working your butt off in school to get into the college of your dreams. Dedication is something everyone should have.” You just have to have the motivation and want it enough to do it. You are what you do. Not what you say you will do. “ -C.J.

Discussion Forum Answer Unit 8 Goal setting helps one in choosing where one want to go in life (Mindtools.com, 2015). Hence, thinking about a particular goal that I had set for myself that I couldn’t achieve, I will have to flash back to my days in secondary school. I remember vividly that when I was to sit for my first Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), I drew out grades that I wanted to achieve in some particular subjects. Unfortunately, at the end the day, I couldn’t meet up to the grades I had set for myself. And the reasons I believe was the cause of these failure were loss of focus, lack of continual action and lack of commitment (Denis Hocker, 2011).…

Fred Gratzon stated “All progress in society, since the beginning of time, has been driven by lazy people looking to avoid work.” Many people believe that laziness hurts ourselves, but in reality Gratzon made a good point. Because of all the laziness that has occurred throughout the years, we have improved in things such as machinery. For example, in the beginning, farmers would go out in their fields and hand pick a crop one by one. Today they have tractors and other farming equipment that will harvest their crops for them.…

In "Mother Tongue" Amy Tan knew how hard her mother tried to defend herself from other people, but in instances people said they did not understand what Amy's mother was saying. Hegel’s philosophy of history incorporates his reasoning of how world history exists within the realm of the Spirit. He explores the actions of men and women, and concludes that they are driven by the Spirit. “Hence it is of interest, in the course of history, to learn to know spiritual nature in its existence, that is, the point where Spirit and Nature unite, namely, human nature” (Hartman). Hegel goes on to explain the purpose of human activity by using great men in world history and what drove them to carry out their purpose and goals. People that are driven to reach a goal, are the ones that are internally self-driven to accomplish great things in the world.…

Self-Determination Theory "Self-Determination theory (SDT) is an approach to human motivation and personality that uses traditional empirical methods while employing an organismic metatheory that highlights the importance of humans’ evolved inner resources for personality development and behavioral self-regulation"(Ryan & Deci, 2000, p. 68). Within this paper onee will discuss the correlation between SDT and motivation in relations to personal individual growth, and professional development. Determining Motivation "Self-determination theory suggests that there are different types of motivation, such that people vary not only in level of motivation but also in the source or quality of that motivation. At the same time, SDT postulates a continuum of autonomy to order those types of motivation" (Chemolli & Gagne, 2014, p. 575). Motivation is derived from the desire of the nature at hand; the interest of the specified subject, will determine the depth of the motivation.…
