Dika concluded that, “Grease thus constructs a fantasy of how we may wish life could have been in the past, but most importantly, how we wish it could be in the present. (127)“Some people say that they wish to go back to this simple time of safety, innocence, and respectful children, but I rarely see a post with an extra sentence saying that they wish that they could go back—ofcourse-- without the bad aspects of that time. Well, take a look around, seems like they got the exact opposite of their wish. There’s little difference between the 1950’s and 1960’s with relation to minority lives and police brutality— the obvious differences and overgeneralizations aside. Racism never went away; it was just hidden and is now subtle.
