They already had three sons together. At age fifty six King Louis XIV forced Perrault into retirement in 1684. In 1686 Perrault had decided to concentrate on his children and his “epic poetry”. Perrault believed to put greater emphases should be placed on human nature and social conduct both good and bad. His most popular stories are Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Puss in Boots, and Blue Beards. When he began publishing his work he published it under his last born son Pierre. His Literary style was a new genre at the time called Fairy Tales. Perrault passed away May 16th 1703 at age seventy five. I believe that Perrault used his personal life in writing Cinderella, at a part they say “Mademoiselle de la Poche” which is French. Perrault was born and raised in Paris, France so it would make sense he had the setting of his stories from there as well. He also wrote about kings and princes, which goes with his personal life of working so closely with King Louis
