The use of organic farming methods reduces soil erosion, which causes the soil to retain its fertility and uses less water, which can make this technique more profitable. There is less nutrient contamination in organic produce because there are no artificial pesticides used. The avoidance of those synthetic pesticides reduces carbon emissions and increases biologic distinction. Organic farming techniques can also reduce the investments on fertilizers and energy. This method of farming helps the earth retain more topsoil by utilizing crop rotation, intercropping and green manure (manure that does not come in contact with synthetic chemicals and isn’t mixed with synthetic materials). The use of this manure helps run-down soil that is prone to erosion and salinity to feed on micronutrients. It is apparent that organic farms bring forth smaller amounts of produce per harvest when compared to conventional farms. Some organic farms actually produce half of the output of conventional farms in the same areas. Although organic farming does reduce CO2 emissions, it isn’t necessarily a drastic reduction. Unless these products are grown locally, the quantity of CO2 gases released into the atmosphere from the transportation can balance out the emissions to be equal to or even more than those emitted with conventional farming
