On the other hand, when marriages do not work out, many of them end up in divorce. The divorce process may take longer than planned, but could take around 9 months for the process to be completely over and done with. A divorce for married people who have children together may take even longer. This may be because the couple may have to agree on specific days and times each spouse gets the children. When the parents cannot agree to these terms, the parents will usually have to go to court and argue it out there. If the parents can agree to each other’s terms, the lawyer fees may not be as expensive. The judge will try to determine who may be the parent who is in the best interest of the child and may get extra days than the other spouse. Jennifer …show more content…
Individuals who may say this might be people who have been married for a long time to their significant other. The couple who knows almost everything about each other is an admirable thing, but one spouse may use this to their advantage to also annoy the other individual. According to Elizabeth Weil, “I have a pretty good marriage. It could be better. There are things about my husband that drive me crazy” (503). Some of these could be that one of the significant others could say or do something that may annoy their spouse, not cook dinner or take out the trash like they were supposed to, or just being annoying or frustrated the whole day. If the couple really wants to stay together, they both have to be determined that they want their marriage to succeed. Staying in a marriage happy is a lot better than staying in a marriage where an individual is miserable. According to Amanda Fortini, “In a much discussed survey of 35,000 American women, published in the July issue of Women’s Day, 72 percent of married women said they had considered leaving their husbands” (499). These reasons could include physical or emotional abuse and constantly arguing with one another. Financial issues or not having an emotional or physical connection anymore could also be the issue with women wanting to leave their …show more content…
It is amazing that two people can come together to love each other forever and do whatever it takes to make each other happy. Being married helps improve your health immensely, it reduces heart disease and decreases depression! Sharing your love with your significant other is wonderful, but it is even better sharing your love with your children with your significant other. Showing your significant other to all of your relatives on holidays is exciting. If the parents have children, they will get to play with their cousins and other family members. It is always the best for both people in the relationship to be careful what they say and be considerate of each other’s feelings. It is never fun to be mad at someone a person loves immensely. When marriages do not work out, it is kind of a process that may drag out. The marriage might drag out even more if the couple has kids and they are fighting for custody over the children. After being married for a long time, people may not love their significant other like they did at the beginning of their relationship. Therefore, even though marriages will have many more benefits, some will have more than a few

According to the article, “Will Your Marriage Last?” by Brooke Lea Foster, there are many factors that come into play when it comes to having a happy, successful marriage and avoiding divorce. On the other hand, Foster states that there are more factors that may distress a marriage thus leading to divorce rather than maintaining a happy marriage. Some factors that lead to divorce are interracial marrying, moving in prior to marrying, and having a child (Foster 107). I can agree with Foster that it is surprising to find out that moving in with your partner prior to marriage would lead to feeling like they are forced into a life long commitment rather than choosing to be in one. I find this to be extremely surprising considering that living together before marrying would be beneficial in seeing whether the partnership would work out.…

In his lifetime, Milton wrote four different tracts on divorce. The Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce, The Judgment of Martin Bucer, Tetrachordon, and Colasterion. Of these, only The Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce was drastically rewritten, nearly doubling it between the first and second editions. These changes go beyond reformatting and adding headnotes to each chapter, to the additions of completely new sections and other significant changes. In "Milton Rewrites The Doctrine and Discipline of Divorce," Thomas Kranidas compares the two editions in order to show the differences in tone and rhetoric between the editions.…

Over Critical Women Quite often we hear from single women that they just can’t find Mr. Right or that he simply doesn’t exist. Some can even go as far as to say the person they were with before wasn’t good enough and did not live up to their expectations. They can often be overheard saying things such as, “I need a man with a very well-paying job, no kids, time to take me on romantic dates and money to treat me to spa dates on a monthly basis.” Most women aren’t married not because men do not hold up to their standards and or needs, but because some women are over critical and have high expectations. It seems that in today’s society women are becoming even more overly critical of their significant other than before.…
