Most domestic violence situations involve a man being violent with his spouse. The cause of their anger can come from the lack of respect they feel entitled to. Being the man of the house, they are the providers, and when he senses that his spouse is feeling ungrateful he gets upset. (“Anonymous”). Domestic violence tends to be a pattern of behavior used by one person in a relationship to control the other. The most frequently reported type of domestic violence is physical abuse such as hitting, punching, pushing, arm-twisting, biting, and use of a weapon. (“Gale”).

The abusive episode is often followed by apologies, promises that things will get better, and even denial by the batterer that the abuse occurred.
