The first essay I read is written by Charles Kenny “Haiti Doesn’t Need Your Old T-Shirt”, in Kenny’s essay, he argues that those who are in need would rather receive money instead of clothes, food and other necessities. As I was reading this essay, I question the validity of his arguments, does giving money solve these problems? I do think that when we give money to developing countries it is advantageous, however Kenny’s theme throughout his essay “bottom line: giving donations of cash are nearly always more effective” (254). I feel that his thought and claims are highly subjective. Kenny talks of organizations such as the NFL, World Vision, and British NGO and how these organizations donate to “SWEDOW” (Stuff we don’t want).…
Paper #2 – Critical Evaluation of Dalton’s Citizenship Measures Generations of the American people faithfully participate in government policy because it is an honor and privilege to engage in the fundamentals of our country’s political democracy. In The Good Citizen, Russel J. Dalton explores good citizenship and how it affects the country. Also, Dalton focuses on the millennials, and challenges those that do not care about the country. Dalton further analyzes how the norms have changed over the past decades. Dalton’s ideas on American citizenship are interesting and somewhat engaging, which I find myself mostly agreeing with.…

The issues with organizations being allowed to donate unlimited sums of money to candidate is that the organization is essentially buying the candidate. It is expensive to run a campaign; therefore, candidates may change their position in order to bring in funding. In turn they are no longer working for the people but advancing the organization agenda. These create an unfair advantage for wealthier organization and people, and expands on the division of classes in society. While, organizations, companies, special interest groups, or unions are not permitted to give donation directly to candidates, Super PACs allowed donors to contribute anonymously.…
More than one billion children in the world are deprived of at least one of the basic necessities. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) "children living in poverty are those who experience deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or participate as full and equal members of society". Poverty limits children's opportunities for education, puts them at risk for health problems and increases the likelihood that they’ll be subjected to child labor or early marriage. Poor children are hungry and at risk for malnutrition, underdevelopment and stunting, which can have serious health consequences later…
In everyone’s life, there will be trials they will undergo. Revelation 2:10 says, “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. A great number of people are able to persevere through the trials they face and continue living their lives.…
Two years ago at Santa Ana, I saw a homeless man on a curb next to a parking lot of ABC Supermarket begging for money. I pitied him and reached out 3 dollars in my pocket and gave him my money. He said,“God bless you” and gave me a distinctive smile. I remember to this day, seeing him so happy brought me such joy. The pleasure of helping an unfortunate man felt warming and rewarding.…

Organ Donation Persuasive Essay Gavin Sauter In an organ donation, when somebody dies, the family of that person has to give permission to donate the organs of that person. There are many reasons as to why the families shouldn’t have a say as to whether or not the organs can be donated. The deceased don’t need their leftover organs for anything, people are in need of certain organs, whether or not they donate their organs shouldn’t be up to their family, and doctors could also find a way to help cure organ diseases or find ways that don’t involve taking them from the deceased.…
