Driving Age Should Not Be Raised

Why the driving age should not be raised
Driving is a big art of maturing and growing as an individual. State governments are pushing for the driving age to be raised to eighteen, but there is no reason for this. Sixteen year olds are naturally capable to drive with their senses being heightened as they are younger. Generally, sixteen year olds are unfairly judged as irresponsible and not attentive enough to drive. They also need access to driving in order to get around, and it makes no sense just to keep pushing it off until they are older. Sixteen year olds are beginning to get too old to be chauffeured around by parents and guardians. They need to be allowed to drive themselves.
Sixteen year olds are naturally capable in driving. They have better reflexes and reaction times which is a key aspect in driving. While not always the case, teens may have better eyesight, as they are younger (Journal of health and physiology, 2012). This shows that as far as the physical aspect in driving, sixteen year olds are naturally capable of the challenge.

sixteen year olds should be able to prove that they are responsible enough to handle driving through testing and proven capability. If it is just accepted that all sixteen year olds are incapable of driving, than these individuals will believe they are not adults for an even longer period of time. When society treats them as teens, then they are going to act like teens. If we treat these sixteen year olds as adults, than they can be expected to act more like it. If they really are ready, then they should be allowed to

I definitely don’t think the minimum age should be raised. Sixteen is more than old enough for a mature person to drive a car. If the person is not mature or they can’t drive well enough, then they don’t pass the test, no matter how old they are. I think we should do this because there are some kids that aren’t sixteen are mature…

I believe people should be able to drive at whatever age they feel like they can non-violently drive. The minimum age should be thirteen, and as long as you’re a teenager, driving tests should be more difficult. Also, instead of just passing, everyone has to get 100%. As long as we know that teens will be unhurt, they can drive. If they drive violently, and won’t drive aware of danger and responsibly, then they shouldn’t be able to drive.…

No parent or student has time for these supervised hours while going to school and work. Sixteen is the age where teens can get their first part time job which creates an erratic schedule. A teen may obtain a job that requires driving such as delivering: UPS, Papa John's, or FedEx. Raising the driving age would be denying teens these jobs. It would be difficult for the parents to maintain their own schedule and that of the teens’.…

There are teens at the age of eighteen who have their license and can drive their friends around but lack experience. If kids are driving by themselves for an extra year, then they will be more responsible at the age of eighteen when they drive with others. With this inexperience, they have a crash rate higher than any other age group. If teens start earlier and drive more before they are free to drive their friends' places teens should lower the number of accidents they have on the road a substantial amount. Teens should be able to drive at a younger age because it can help them be more responsible.…
