Educational Mentor Research Paper

What does it mean to view one as an Educational Mentor? When considering a person I would choose as my Educational Mentor, I think of someone who is goal oriented, honest, hard working, inspires others to learn and think. Furthermore, a person who also values the students that walk through the door each day. Choosing an Educational Mentor is not hard for me since I have the privilege of working with many who inspire me every day in Education. Chowchilla High School has been a place where I have had the opportunity to learn many different teaching styles and subjects. Not only do I work at Chowchilla High I also graduated from this school, and some of the most inspirational teachers I had I now work with daily. Freitas. She is a Special Education teacher at Chowchilla High, and I have had the privilege of working with her for almost ten years. Mrs. Freitas has taught me to look at education as an opportunity to learn from students and build connections that last a lifetime. When first beginning my journey I had no interest in teaching I just needed a job. I remember feeling out of my element and struggled to connect with the students. I remember sitting in her class and watching her teach and she was mesmerizing. Students opened up to her and wanted to learn, think, and discover in her class. These students were kids that other teachers did not always have an interest in because they suffered from learning disabilities. Mrs. Freitas welcomed these students with open arms.
