Ender's Game Movie And Book Comparison Essay

Each day, every one of us wakes up and goes to our average, everyday high school. The normal day for Ender Wiggin was Battle school, hours of learning, and action packed encounters. The plot of Ender’s Game is about a boy who is placed in battle school at age 6 to train in the ways of a commander and lead an army in the war against the Buggers. After showing superior skill and knowledge, Ender is sent to command school where he defeats the Bugger race into extinction… Or so it is initially thought. He finds a Bugger egg and plans to bring the race back to life in a distant place where they won’t be harmed. The book is much better than the movie because it is more detailed, more action packed, and evenly paced. Some critical elements In the story are when Graff recognizes Ender’s potential when he beats up Stilson and Bonzo, when Ender’s team defeats two armies at once in battle school, and when Ender destroys the Bugger race. In both stories Ender is a tactical thinker like no other. When it comes to fighting his enemies, he destroys the enemy to the point that they won’t attack him again, and he prevents future battles with other enemies. He also goes from underdog to commander of a fleet in both stories. He was picked on by the kids at the beginning for being smarter than them, and he got in fights with his commanders. But he rose through the ranks at amazing speed and bested all those who thought of him as a nobody. The biggest similarity is the climax, what leads up to it, and what precedes it. In both stories Ender meets Mazer Rackham and is trained by him. He then goes on to defeat the Bugger race by destroying their home planet. After that he discovers the bugger egg in a fallen structure that resembles the castle from his game. The director’s decision to include those elements in the movie really strengthened the plot because without them, there really would have been no plot to the story at
