The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission helps with interpreting and enforcing federal laws prohibiting discrimination. Before EEOC, there were many people who were being fired from there jobs for being a certain color, believing in a different religion, coming from a different country and more. This was not okay and a lot of people protested. The making and start of a new change didn't come easy. There were several public displays of protesters being beaten, attacked by dogs and sprayed violently by hoses used by fireman. All to get the people afraid and to back down from their fight.
