It all started in the black hole. Equality 7-2521 discovered the astonishing old iron grill top and realized he had to explore the world underneath. During his exploration, Equality found himself breaking the rules. He thought up and created a box, nothing really special. Equality made the box itself special once he realized his invention could impact the world, but he kept the amazing creation to himself, knowing no one would believe that a street sweeper could be an inventor. Equality's’ primary motivation was to defy all odds against him, and technically he didn’t really work harder based upon the fact that his invention could benefit mankind. In his heart. He knew that he could do better than just being a street sweeper, causing him to dream of being put into the house of scholars. In the collectivist society Equality lived in, everyone had to be the same, possibly to avoid conflict within the society, and words like “I” and “ego” were forbidden so word tenses were all in the plural form, and those who spoke the word “ego” were burned …show more content…
The society limited his own personal creativity causing him to repent towards the law behind the councils backs. Knowing he could be caught and stoned to death in the square didn’t stop him from going to accomplish his dream,to create an invention, and while he knew he probably wouldn’t be accepted into the house of scholars didn’t change his mind at all and he really didn’t seem to care. On page 19, he denied that International 4-8818 take his discovery to the council, because he did not want to be lashed. I believe that even though he came off to be nervous about being lashed that he wanted to perfect his invention of electricity, then show it so that it was presented neatly. Once Equality decided to present his invention, he was denied before he even showed
