Recreational Marijuana Legalization is Our Ruination Marijuana: an illicit drug that has seen a spike in favor of its legalization for both recreational and medical usage in recent years. Even though a revenue can be generated and could help our nation come out of debt, there would be much more loss than gain (Office of National Drug Control Policy). Look at how alcohol and tobacco products affect us. Although money has been gained through the taxation of the two products, but more money has been spent on expenses related to the products, such as lost productivity and medical expenses, adding to our country’s debt with marijuana increasing the burden likewise as alcohol and tobacco have done (Office of National Drug Control Policy). In other words, recreational legalization yields negative results as a
