In America, Slavery in many ways throughout the years has been a topic of great controversy. Slavery when thought about by people today it is usually thought by all of its negatives, but they rarely think of the part it had in developing America. Slavery in America did oppress a group of people in many ways, but it brought a culture foreign to the Americas and helped grow the American economy. First off, slavery was a massive source of oppression among a group of people. This oppression demoralized a race in many diverse ways. In many cases, the people weren’t given normal liberties to that of non-slaves. Not only did slaves not have any clout in politics, but they were counted as three-fifths of a human to add insult to injury. Also in other cases slaves were treated in many inhumane ways. Among these ways were often beating of slaves and working for extended periods of time. These are just a few ways that slaves by slave owners.

Second, slavery brought a culture that otherwise might not have been here in America had there been no slavery, or at least would have been here later offsetting the timing in which events happen. This lack of culture would have led to either the neglect or delay of things we know today would be skewed quite severely. First off the realm of music could be completely different.
