In Amy Chua's article “Why Chinese Mother's Are Superior,” she explained how strict and forceful she is with her daughters. Her children are not allowed to have sleepovers, she expects them to receive only A's in school, and they must learn piano and violin, and practice for hours every day. The parents do everything for the child, never teaching the child how to pay taxes, write a check, iron laundry, or care for him or herself. Many parents also do not discipline their children, which, I believe produces less respectful and valuable citizens. As a result of this non-strict parenting style, many children and young adults are immature and incapable. I believe that if you give a child more tasks and responsibility, he or she will become more and more capable. As the wisest book in the world says “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.” and “For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” (The Holy Bible).
