blacks, was the Scottsboro boys trial. This event was an extreme example of how the justice system treated blacks. On March 25, 1931, seven boys were hoboing on a train. When the train stopped, several white people reported that they got attacked on the train by black people. When the men were arrested two white women told the police that the black men had raped them. The case was first heard in Scottsboro Alabama. The trials were rushed, and all of the men (besides twelve-year-old Roy Wright) got sentenced to death. In all of the trials, there were only white juries. So it makes sense why all of the trials went by quick. Without physical evidence, they got sentenced to death. The only evidence there was,was evidence from a white person. More trials ensued to fight against the unfairness of this trial, but the critical point of this is that this was a white vs. black scenario. It was a white person’s word versus a black person’s. And the white word won. This can be linked to when Jim got thrown in prison because they thought he killed Huck. Even though Huck was alive and vouching for Jim. They kept him in prison because he was black. It doesn’t matter about the evidence if you were black person back then no matter what evidence there is. If a white person says that a black person does something. The white man is always going to win in the battle of white versus
