I said that the thing that influenced the author was that she and her mother both loved to read, and she remembers when her parents used to read books took her, and another thing that had an influence with her career as a British writer named Elizabeth Bowen. While Eudora Welty was traveling Europe in 1949-1950 she visited Ireland, where she contacted Elizabeth Bowen.
