There are 3 Branches that are intended to share an equal part of power within the Government. The Executive Branch is headed by the President. The President will carry out federal laws as well as recommend new laws. He leads our nation’s defense and international deals. He is able to veto laws that he does not see fit for the country. The Legislative Branch is headed by Congress, which consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Madison states that it is the strongest branch because it comes from the people. They are in charge of making and passing laws, handling the budget, and approving treaties. The third and final branch is the Judicial Branch which is headed by the Supreme Court. The message states, “If men were angles, no government would be necessary.” (Hamilton/Madison, 1788) It is clear the idea that they are wanting a strong government but still want to protect the people’s liberty. Each department should have a will of its own and minimal power in each member making them all independent of each other. It would also require that all appointees have no direct affiliation with one another. This will act as safe guards. All personal interests and ambitions will be oversaw to there is not an abuse of power within the system. The Judicial Branch in particular with be based on abnormal skills, due to the permanent tenure in the office. The appointees will need to be independent and not depend on others for answers or input. They should rely on the states and the people for election so favoritism is not involved when choosing another board member. This applies to all branches of
