United States health care system uses many factors that help to assess the level of health among its population. Factors such as health behaviors, physical environment, clinical care, and social economic factors are critical elements that increase the citizens’ life of expectancy and quality of life, however, those factors could impact negatively the communities, for example, the increment of child in poverty will increase the susceptibility to health issues, illness, and death. Evidently, Individuals with low income do not have access to a suitable healthcare, recreational facilities or grocery stores subsequently the poor population leans toward destructive habits such as tobacco, alcohol and the intake of fast food, behaviors that upsurge illness and death for cardiovascular and chronic diseases. Clearly, the analysis represented in this work calculates the percentage of children living under poverty in the State of Virginia. The 2014 census data from Virginia revealed a 16% percent of poverty in the child population, while the data from 2008 showed a 14 percent of poverty¹. Certainly, the statistics consider critical factors such as the population age, education and socioeconomic status among others. In the 2008 census about 60% of single females were living in poverty, following by the 31% of females with children and the 21% of individuals without high school graduation. Indeed, the age group affected the most in this data was from 0 to 24 years old. Definitely, The level of poverty Is greater in rural than urban counties alike to the Statewide, where the poverty rate is higher in rural than urban Virginia. Even though Virginia has the utmost rate of poverty in rural areas, poorer people tend to live in urban and suburban areas due to the amount of rural population migrating to cities. Furthermore, cities as Richmond display neighborhoods with a 1 to 2 percent of poverty, in contrast with neighborhoods that surpass the state average². Although my work was aiming for the entire state of Virginia. I believe that is important to compare the children’s poverty level between counties so as an illustration, the 2014 census data reported that Emporia city is the county with more percentage of children in poverty, approximately 42 percent of them live in poverty while Falls church city has a total of a 3 percent. On the other hand, the 2008 census showed the Richmond city as the city with the major percentage (36%)of children in poverty and Loudoun with the lowest percentage (4 %)
