Forest fires has the most effect on the environment like vegetation, wildlife, soil ,water ,air, and human health/welfare. Photosynthesis is the major function of every green plant. Fire can injure or kill a small part of a plant or the entire plant so small trees and animals take less time and heat to kill than larger ones. Depending upon the specific environment fire will sometimes be an enemy, at times a friend, and frequently its effects will be mixed between the two extremes. This is a very good reason why humans cause climate change. According to Plos ONE #11.4, 95% of California’s wildfires are caused by human actions. The interaction between humans and wildfires across all of California demonstrate the need to understand the relationship between them, mostly in the face of a changing climate and expanding human communities. People in California have built in areas of natural vegetation know as the Wildlife-Urban Interface,(WUI), much of which the area is known to be fire prone. This means that most of the wildfires are made by humans, and also meaning that humans cause major fires.…

In “Blow UP” by Sebastian Junger, he states “The fire blew up a little ridge below me, Haugh said later, “People were yelling in their radios, RUN, RUN, RUN!” (Junger p.510) Nature has its way of attacking itself that leaves the rest of us, running for safety. In this story people are affected by lightning striking a forest on a mountain. Another example of nature working against itself is when the wind blew the fire in a way that caused it to spread.…

Thunderheads gather, and even without rain there are lightning storms with many strikes on tall, exposed ridges, where a dead pine or fir can smolder for days before dropping live sparks on the dry grass or brush below. Wildfire is a natural part of the ecology of the West, but the policy of the U.S. Forestry Service at the time was to try to contain small fires before they burned large areas of national forest. When the fire spotters’ reports were radioed in to the regional fire fighting headquarters in Missoula, a crew of fifteen Smokejumpers was dispatched in a C-47 airplane under the direction of foreman R. Wagner Dodge. The pilot reported a great deal of turbulence over Mann Gulch, so the Smokejumpers were dropped from two thousand feet instead of the customary twelve hundred. Their equipment was scattered, and their radio was smashed when its parachute failed to open.…

The “fires create a landscape more diverse in age, which reduces the probability of disease or fire spreading through large areas. An example of this adaptation is in the lodge pole pines trees they have two different types of pinecones that are produced, serotinous cones the makeup about 80% of the park's forest. The serotinous cones won’t release their seeds until the resin seal is melted. This adaptation allows for the seeds not to disperse until fire creates conditions that are favorable. Another example would be the Douglas Fir seed, it needs conditions that can only exist in rare microhabitats in the grasslands.…

The Indians had no previous experience or scientific knowledge on how to manage or control fire burning, and the extent to which burning land would affect the biodiversity was unknown. Yet, despite the collateral damage caused by the exploration of fire burning, the Indians managed to enhance the ecological effects of natural fire in a way that it encouraged ecosystem subsistence in the long term. For example, it was used to prevent pathogens infestation that could have wiped out the population of oak trees, and it promoted maximum vegetation diversity and preservation of native plants by eliminating weeds and other invasive species. In spite of the lack of knowledge of ecological dynamics, thanks to the Indian’s deep understanding of nature due to their harmonic relationship with the ecosystem, fire become an essential management tool that shaped ecosystems in the long…
