Football is an American tradition. Many people from all over the country gather in one stadium, or even to a couch, to support their favorite team. But football hasn’t always been what it is now. In December of 1905, a lot was changed due to safety reasons. Eighteen people died that year because of football, most of them being only High school athletes. Today, football athletes are permitted to throw the ball. In 1905, 62 schools met in New York to change the rules of football to make it safer. The forward pass became legal. Although football is still dangerous and can lead to concussions, football has developed in so many new ways with new equipment, head gear, and rules that work as best as possible to ensure athletes’ safety.
