The environment shapes the decisions we make. Everything and everyone around us affects us in a way or another when we are kids as well as while we are growing up. We develop our ideas and values from people around us while we are growing up. We are most likely to adapt our ways of thinking to other’s ways of thinking who we are around. We develop our own ideas and values through social interaction, first with our parents and then as we grow up with peers. Our ideas and values can often change when we have a change of environment, meaning when we meet other people and acquire some of their perspectives. For example, the place where one is raised plays a big part on how you think and how you act. If a kid is raised in a violent neighborhood, or in an abusive family, he or she could grow up to make the same decisions as those people around him or her did. Possibly he or she will choose to do drugs or engage in violent crimes. What they watch and learn when they are younger is what they are going to think is right. The same will happen if a kid is raised in a loving and caring family. He or she is more likely to make decisions and act like his or her parents and the people around. But, there are many more people who, even though, they work hard to achieve their dreams and goals cannot achieve resulting from the lack of opportunity and resources. No matter the hardships and sacrifices they go through in life, some people cannot make their own decisions and decisions are instead made for them, meaning that biologically and socially many decisions are made for us because we are born with a certain set of genes and into a certain family. For example, a boy who wants to be a football player, but he is just clumsy and although he tries he will not be a good player because physically he is not made for it. The decision, in a way, is already made for him he is most likely not going to be a football player because he is physically not built for it. The people who are not successful is not because they are lazy, but it's because some decisions are already made for them.
